오늘부터 나도 '식집사'! 식물의 초록색이 주는 특유의 안정감이 있다. 내게 식물 하면 떠오르는 이미지는, 할머니 댁에 갈 때마다 무럭무럭 자라는, 왠지 양분을 잘 먹고 자란 듯 아주 건강해 보이는 초록이들! 베란다에 비추는 따스한 햇볕과 반들거리는 초록 잎사귀를 마루에 앉아 가만히 쳐다보고만 있으면 금세 마음이 편안해진다. 그다음으로 떠오르는 건 아파트 앞 화단의 새싹들. 1층에 어린이집이 있어서 그런지 가끔 이름표가 걸어진 화분들도 보이곤 한다. 귀여운 초록 새싹들과 그사이 작은 키의 참새들은 상상만 해도 미소 지어진다. 강의 사이 애매한 공강 시간, 도서관에 자리가 없을 때 - 버클리 캠퍼스 곳곳의 잔디밭 혹은 벤치에 앉아 초록 잔디와 나무 사이에서 시간을 보냈던 것도 떠오른다. 실제로 식물은 세로토닌을 분비해 불안과 우울감.. 2022. 4. 17.
